A time of year and a price to suit you

The Lake School offers a wide variety of long stay programmes. Start dates are flexible and fees are discounted for students who study on an Intensive course for more than 5 weeks. Courses can be combined.

Long stay students receive regular personal tutorials, a detailed report on their language achievement,  advice about part-time work/work placement in the UK and university placement advice if required.

Course Includes 15 hours' tuition + weekly cultural / social / sporting activities.
Course Start You can start a Semi-Intensive General English course any Monday* from January 5 to June 22 2009, and from September 1 to November 30 2009. You can't follow a Semi-Intensive in July or August. Beginners must start on January 5, April 6, July 6 or Sept 28. If you're not sure about your level of English, please contact the school.
Course Length You can study for 10 or more weeks. The minimum enrolment is 10 weeks. If you want to follow a Semi-Intensive General English course for 2 - 9 weeks, go to short courses.
Course Fees 10 weeks or more: £180 per week
25 weeks or more: £146 per week

In the summer, you must start on July 6, July 20, August 3 or August 17, 2009.

Business Studies courses start on July 6 and August 3, 2009.
Course Length You study for 10 or more weeks on a General English course before starting your Business Studies course. You can choose if you want to study for 4 or 8 weeks on your Business Studies course. The entrance requirement for Business Studies is IELTS 6.0 and an interview at the business college.

Course Length You study for 10 or more weeks on a General English course before starting your IT course. The entrance requirement for IT courses is IELTS 6.0 and an interview at the college.

British Studies course dates: from September 28, 2009 to June 18 2010.
Course Length You study for 10 or more weeks on a General English course before starting your British Studies course. The entrance requirement for British Studies is IELTS 6.0 and an interview at the college.

Payment - Important Information

If you need a UK visa

you must pay your full fees when you make your registration.

When we receive your registration form, we will send you an invoice showing your fees. You must pay by bank transfer and send a copy of the bank transfer document by email or fax before visa documentation is issued.

In addition to your tuition fees, you must pay

  • a registration fee of £65
  • a visa documentation fee of £25
  • and bank charges of £25

An express mail fee of £75 will be charged if you need your visa documentation by post.

If your visa is refused, these administration fees are non-refundable. Your tuition fees will be refunded in full subject to the following conditions:

  • As soon as you receive your visa, you must tell the Lake School. If you do not arrive at the Lake School on your agreed course start date, the School must report you to the UK Border Agency and you will lose the course fees for any weeks that you do not attend.
  • If your visa is refused, you must tell the Lake School at least two weeks before the start of your course and send a copy of the original letter of refusal given to you by the Entry Clearance Officer. In this case, we will refund your full course fees less any administration fees.
  • If your visa is refused and you tell the Lake School less than two weeks before the start of your course, we will refund your fees less any administration fees and less a cancellation fee of 350 GBP. If your visa is refused and you tell the Lake School after the start date of your course, you will lose the course fees for any weeks that you do not attend in addition to the cancellation fee.
  • In any case, you must apply for a refund of course fees within four weeks of your visa refusal date.
If you do not need a UK visa

you must pay a deposit of £200 and a registration fee of £65 when you make your registration.

You can pay by credit card or bank transfer. If you pay by bank transfer, you must add £25 to cover bank charges. You can pay your fees in euros if you want. However, please note, the Lake School exchange rate is 1GBP = 1.6 EUR. If you want to pay the deposit and registration fee in euros, you must tell the school and you must pay the rest of your fees in euros too.

The deposit is part of your total course fees. You must pay the balance of fees before you start the course.

The registration fee is non-refundable. The deposit is only refunded in exceptional circumstances at the discretion of the directors of the school.

If you have paid the registration fee and deposit and cancel your course less than two weeks before the course start date, the School will not refund these.

School Holidays 2009

The school is closed on the following dates in 2009:

January 1 - 4, April 10*, April 13*, May 4*, May 25*, August 31*, December 14 - January 3 2010

*Public holiday. If your course includes a public holiday, no fees are refunded for lessons missed.

How to enrol

To enrol on a course, please fill in the Registration Form. We are always happy to help and advise you, so please contact us at the school if you have any questions.

  • Choose your course and check the dates and fees.
  • Complete the online registration form and make your payment.
  • Send the online registration form, or print the pdf registration form and fax or email it to us.

We will send you immediate confirmation that we have received your online registration. Within 2 days of receiving your payment, we will send confirmation of your registration.
